About the ASCC

The Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists is a professional scientific organisation that promotes the advancement of the theory and practice of the science and technology of cosmetics, toiletries and perfumery. Membership is open to individuals who are working or interested in the cosmetics, toiletries and perfumery industry.

Objectives of the ASCC
The objects for which the Society is established are:

  •  To promote the advancement of the theory and practice of the science and technology of cosmetics, toiletry, perfumery and the like.
  • To promote education, research and other means of advancing knowledge relating to the science and technology of cosmetics, toiletry, perfumery and the like.
  • To institute and arrange lectures, seminars, symposia and demonstrations and in general to provide a forum for the discussion and dissemination of information relating to the science and technology of cosmetics, toiletry, perfumery and the like.
  • To promote, establish and maintain the professional status of persons having scientific or technological duties within the cosmetics, toiletry, perfumery and like industries.
  • To publicly demonstrate the contribution of cosmetics, toiletry, perfumery and the like to human welfare and well-being.
  • To take over the funds and other assets and liabilities of the present unincorporated association known as the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists.

Awards
As a part of the IFSCC and representing Australia’s largest gathering of cosmetic chemists, formulators, manufacturers, raw material suppliers and brand managers/owners, the ASCC has a number of awards it issues to recognise the efforts and contributions of our members. See our awards and past recipients here.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program

The ASCC Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program is an opportunity for you to develop your abilities in the field of cosmetics and related areas. As a professional, you will spend time learning about cosmetics, regulatory requirements, research, business development, improving your personal performance skills and understanding changing market environments. Our Awards

Gilda Severino Award

Introduced in 2024 the Gilda Severino Award is awarded to the best Poster Display at an annual conference.

ASCC Educational Paper Award

Introduced in 2019 the ASCC Educational Paper Award is awarded to the best Educational paper an an annual conference.

Peter Strasser Award

Introduced in 2017 the Peter Strasser Award is awarded to the best overall workshop presented at the conference.

Jack Jacobs Memorial Trophy

Awarded to the best paper at the ASCC Annual Conference based on original research conducted in either Australia or New Zealand.

Lester Conrad Award

This award is in memory of Lester Conrad who was instrumental in establishing the IFSCC and the ASCC.
